If something goes wrong with your teeth, it’s nearly impossible to go on with your daily life as usual. If you have a cracked or chipped tooth, enjoying simple activities like chewing can be a tall order. Similarly, if your teeth are stain-filled or worn down, you may not enjoy smiling, especially in public. But did you know that your teeth imperfections can be solved by a tiny appliance? Yes, dental crowns from Smile Studios in Redmond, Washington, can dramatically improve the appearance and strength of your teeth.
A dental crown is a restorative treatment that can improve the size, shape, and health of your teeth. There’s no doubt you may have heard of crowns before, but you might be wondering what actually goes into the procedure. Dr. Tina Subherwal has installed hundreds of dental crowns and is more than happy to explain the process from start to finish.
Getting dental crowns involves a minimum of two visits. During the first appointment, we take dental x-rays to examine your teeth. Part of the reason for taking x-rays is to determine if a root canal is necessary prior to crown installation. Dr. Subherwal then trims your teeth to make room for your crowns, after which we take detailed impressions of your teeth and send the images to a dental lab for your crowns to be created. Meanwhile, we place temporary crowns until your permanent crowns are ready for installation.
The second appointment begins with removing your temporary crowns. Dr. Subherwal then inspects your new crowns to ensure they blend in with the rest of your smile. If all is well, we secure your crowns in place using dental cement and a special curing light.
