Veneers and dental bonding not only help fix cavities and broken teeth, but also improve the look of healthy teeth. We at Smile Studios in Redmond, WA offer both veneers and dental bonding to enhance the appearance of your teeth, including changing the size, shape, and color of your teeth.

What are veneers and bonding?

A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain applied to the entire front surface of the tooth. A bonding is a resin that is applied to a smaller portion of the tooth to cover an imperfection.

What are the benefits of veneers?

veneer is a thin porcelain layer that helps cover broken or discolored teeth and change the shape of teeth that are irregular or too small. They are as strong as natural tooth enamel. However, veneers are permanent. In order to be placed, veneers require very small amount of your permanent tooth to be removed before the porcelain layer can be placed. We at Smile Studios dental clinic use the highest quality laboratory located in Seattle to match the color and shape of your tooth with the finest porcelain.

Dr. Tina will custom-design the dental veneer for your tooth to give it a natural look. The porcelain is stain resistant, but we still recommend brushing twice a day and avoid staining foods or drinks to allow for the veneer to stay white for years. Veneers can be used like natural teeth and can last up to 15 years.

What are the benefits of bonding?

Meanwhile, bonding involves applying a composite resin (matched to your tooth color) to a small part of damaged tooth using an adhesive and high-intensity light to cure or harden the resin. Bonding helps repair chipped teeth, change shape or irregular teeth, and has the potential to protect the tooth root in case of receding gums. Bonding has the advantage of not requiring any major change to the original tooth and tends to be less expensive than many other cosmetic procedures.  Its disadvantage is that it does not last as long as the porcelain veneers and will need to be replaced more frequently. Also, the bonding material is not as stain resistant as the bonding material.
